An Overview of the Upcoming ASCE Report on Design of Modular Structures for Industrial Facilities
This technical session to be presented by members of ASCE Energy Division’s Task Committee on Onshore Modularization for Heavy Industrial Applications will focus on ASCE’s state-of-the-practice engineering report on Design of Modular Structures for Industrial Facilities. This report, is planned to be published in 2024, will provide guiding principles that help practicing engineers design modules in petrochemical and other industrial facilities. Topics are addressed in this report include onshore module types, philosophy, modularization study, detailed engineering, fabrication yard fabrication and assembly, transportation & logistics, site construction & installation, and case histories. In this technical session, the presenters will provide an overview of this report, definitions of various module types, and two important topics of modularization – module dimensional control and weight management of modules.
