Younger Member's Report
Happy October Everyone,
I hope this article finds you well and well-rested, despite the fast pace that I’m sure you have all become accustomed to on a day-to-day basis. This month marks the start of a new year for the YM officers so some of the things I’ll mention are still in the works and more details will be forthcoming shortly. We are all excited to put together some great events and see you at many of them.
Keep an eye out for e-mail updates with information on social events, volunteer activities, and technical events (you can get PDH’s for these if you’re interested in that sort of thing). Coming up this month, we’ll have dinner on October 23rd, with a speaker from North Star Financial Group who will be presenting on developing a personal financial strategy. An update with the specific location will be coming in the next couple of days, or you can find the details on the events calendar on our brand new and awesome website. We will try to have a social event once a month, and will rotate locations between different areas of town from Midtown/Montrose, City Centre, Rice Village, and the Heights.
Some volunteer activities and technical events that are in the works include the Elves and More Bicycle Build as well as the PE Luncheon. At the PE Luncheon we will have a speaker from TBPE and will cover preparation for the PE exam as well as some of the details to help you get everything in order for registration if you have that big milestone coming-up in the near future.
As we get rolling this year, I encourage you to bring friends, family, co-workers, maybe even pets (event permitting) to events. Even if they aren’t engineers we’ll make nice. See below for a list of the new officers for the year, some brand new, some moving into new roles from last year.
YMF Chair John Myers
Secretary/Webmaster Brandon Ash
Social Activities Chair Alan Coleman
Community Services Chair Ashley Francis
Golf Tournament Chairs William Saour & Lacey Thompson
Technical Activities Chair Austin Brauel
Sandcastle Chairs Jennifer Eckroth & Sarah Alvarez
If you have any ideas for events, or would like to get more involved we would love to hear from you either via e-mail or catching up at an event. Wishing you all many presents from the Great Pumpkin this Halloween.
Best,
