Younger Member's Report
The Houston Branch Younger Members were very active in the community last month and are off to a great start this month as well. See event recaps below and check out the Houston Branch website and Facebook page for photos.
Volunteering At The Houston Food Bank: On Saturday, January 14th, over 13 ASCE members teamed up with a large group of volunteers from the Younger Member Initiative (YMI) at the Houston Food Bank to repackage food local families in need. Volunteers helped assemble 5,000 Backpack Buddy packages, which creates 30,000 meals! This was a fun event and great way to give back to our community. Thank you to everyone that participated!
University of Houston Resume Review: On Saturday, Feb. 4th, engineers and recruiters volunteered at the University of Houston Resume Review Fair. Volunteers met with civil and environmental engineering students to review their resumes and answer questions about the upcoming career fair. This was a great event! Thank you to the UH ASCE Student Chapter for organizing and hosting the event.
Younger Members also participated in a Joint AWWA-ASCE-WEAT Happy Hour and a Rinker Materials Plant tour. Check out the website for photos and details.
Eweek is upon us! Check out the many opportunities to get involved! Run of Pi Volunteers Needed!
JUMP INTO E-WEEK and volunteer at the 3rd Annual Run of Pi. The fun run will take place at Lynn Eusan Park at the University of Houston Main Campus. Volunteers will help with race setup and clean-up, manning water stations, and help with the awards ceremony. Please see the link below for more race details.
Ticket Cost: Free!
Last day to register for volunteering is Monday January, 30th.
Support our local "Girls Exploring Math & Science Group"!
The Girl Scouts of San Jacinto Council and the Houston Museum of Natural Science invite you to attend the Girls Exploring Math and Science (GEMS) event February 18th from 7:30-1:30pm. The Museum will be filled with hands-on science and math for everyone to experience. Local professionals will be at the Museum to answer questions about their careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math. The Girl Scouts will get their own viewing of ASCE's Dream Big film. ASCE Houston will host four (4) booths with activities and information about Civil Engineering.

Volunteer Judges Needed At The 58th Annual Science and Engineering Fair
Approximately 800 judges are needed for this annual Science and Engineering Fair being held on February 25 at the University of Houston Main Campus. Professional expertise in disciplines ranging from Animal Science, Chemistry, Energy & Transportation to Civil Engineering are needed. Please apply by February 10th! For more information go here.
