Younger Member's Report

Happy March Everyone,

Hope everyone has had a great first couple of months and are ready for an exciting spring this year.

As we close out our annual engineer’s week for 2016, I want to thank all of those who participated in our three volunteer events (Math Counts competition, the Run of Pi and the Science and Engineering Fair at the University of Houston alumni center). These events were a huge success based on all of the feedback that I’ve gotten, and the entire Younger Member officer group thanks you for all of your support for the organization and willingness to give back.

Our first event for the month of March will be a joint social event with the Water and Environmental Association of Texas (WEAT) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) next Tuesday March 8th, from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the West End, located at 5320 Westheimer Road. Please see the flyer on our website for more information and as always, feel free to invite your friends!

Secondly, as you all know by now, the ASCE Houston Branch is looking to build on its past successes from the last 16 years raising scholarship funds for ASCE student chapters across Texas through our annual golf tournament fundraiser hosting the tournament at Top Golf. This year, the event will be held on Friday, May 13, from 1:30 – 5:30 at the Katy location (1030 Memorial Brook Blvd.). The awards ceremony and luncheon will run the same way it has in past, however; there will be an optional happy hour to follow at Watson’s House of Ale around the corner from Top Golf (14656 Grisby Rd.). Please take the time to look over the sponsorship letter and flyer posted on the Branch website and forward to your organization’s supervisor for sponsorship consideration. This is a great opportunity to benefit ASCE Houston student chapters, especially with the initiative from nationals to get students more involved with ASCE post-graduation, as well as obtain marketing recognition for your company or organization.

The main points of contact for this event, should you have any questions or concerns, will be William Sauor at [email protected], and Seth Robinson at [email protected], and as always, feel free to contact me directly as well.

As always, feel free to contact me directly with any questions or concerns.

Regards,

Austin Brauel, E.I.T., A.M.A.S.C.E.
