Structural Engineering Institute Update:

The mission of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI), currently one of nine Specialty Institutes within ASCE is to advance and serve the structural engineering profession.   The SEI Houston Chapter, organized in 2013, strives to provide activities that serve to advance our members' careers through networking opportunities with other local Structural Engineering Professionals, as well as stimulate technological advancement with educational technical seminars/meetings.

This Houston Chapter is pleased to announce and welcome two new volunteer additions to the Chapter’s Leadership Team:  Dr. Michel Maksoud, PE with Dannenbaum Engineering Corporation, and Mr. Oliver Szymczyk, EIT with LJA Engineering Inc.

We also wish to make note that the SEI Houston Chapter has two exciting technical sessions on the spring schedule.  On March 8th, we will be honored to have Dr. Ken Lin with TXDOT present “TxDOT Innovations for Bridge Decks by Using Prestressed Concrete Panel (PCP)”.   And, on May 10th, Mr. Kenton Braun, PE will present “Extreme Engineering – From the Gulf Coast to the Arctic”.  Both will be luncheon technical meetings at the HESS facility.  Please be on the lookout for further registration information for both of these technical sessions.
