Younger Member's Report
Happy April All,
I hope you’re all excited for the warm weather and have a chance to take advantage of it before it gets to be too hot.
We had a trivia night social event at Helfey’s on March 26th with AWWA and WEAT. We also had a great tour of the springwoods village development and got to see a lot if the low impact development features that are a part of the project.
Coming up this month, we have a tour of the port of Houston on the 16th starting at 11:30a. One of the project managers will show us around and it should be really interesting. If you need more of a carrot, you can get PDH credit as well. We are also planning on a happy hour at Yardhouse in City Center, towards the end of this month. The specific date and time are still TBD though.
The golf tournament at Wild Cat Golf Club is also one month away (on May 12th)! I personally am super excited for this and I hope yall are too. Right now we have five teams signed up. If you haven’t signed up or you’re company hasn’t sponsored I encourage you to do so. This will be the largest fundraiser for the Houston Branch’s scholarship fund, and will also be a lot of fun. The proceeds from the tournament allow us to support local college students in STEM programs. For information on registering or sponsoring check the events calendar (http://ascehouston.org/meetinginfo.php?id=42) or contact Lacey Thompson ([email protected]) and/or William Saour ([email protected]).
The AIA Sandcastle will be held at Galveston East Beach on May 30th. In preparation for this, a practice run is planned in Galveston on May 2nd. Contact Jennifer Eckroth ([email protected]) or head to the event page at the link below if you’re interested in building, sponsoring the team, or both! If nothing else, it’ll be a fun time at the beach (but also winning is important, we’re the best at sandcastles and everyone should know it).
