The Houston Branch would like to recognize Jason P. Ellison, P.E. as the recipient of the 2018 ASCE Houston Branch Award of Honor. Jason was presented the award during the 2018 December Branch Meeting. The Award of Honor is the highest recognition that the Houston Branch can present to one of its members and Jason is well deserving of this award. Congratulations Jason and thank you for the lasting positive impact you have had on the Houston Branch!

Jason P. Ellison, P.E. serves as the Roadway Group Manager in the Transportation Systems Department at BGE, Inc. in Houston. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas. His 18 ½ years of engineering experience at BGE includes urban and rural transportation and drainage projects for public and private clients. Jason is a May 2000 graduate of Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering. At A&M, Jason was a member of ASCE, the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Band, Corps of Cadets and Ross Volunteer Company.

Jason has served the Houston Branch as President, Past President, President Elect, Vice President Administration, Hospitality Chair, Website Chair, Membership Chair, Publicity Chair, a member of the Transportation Committee, and the Texas Section as Public Relations & Professional Image Chair and Section Director. In 2009, Jason served on the Host Committee for the Texas Section Fall Meeting with responsibility for hotel and meeting arrangements. In 2014 and 2015 Jason served on the Branch SAGE Committee and helped to finalize the final report. In 2017 Jason served on the Site Selection Committee for the Texas Civil Engineering Conference (CECON).

As one of many key ASCE functions, Jason feels strongly about the important role of ASCE to facilitate student outreach, both K-12 and collegiate. Largely through the dedication and planning of his VP Education, other board officers and committee volunteers, the Branch started several annual outreach activities, including "Shadow the Engineer" Day and the Spring Student Chapter BBQ, during his year as Branch President.

Jason is active in Cypress United Methodist Church as a Sunday school teacher, small group leader, outreach volunteer, and through committee participation. Jason served on his church’s vision committee in 2018, as a delegate to the regional conference for his church from 2011 through 2014 as well as on the Board of Trustees from 2009 through 2012. Jason served as chair of Trustees in 2011 and 2012 with responsibility for the facilities of the church. Jason is also active with his son in Cub Scouts.

Jason and his wife, Allison, live in northwest Houston. They’ve been married since 2001 and enjoy the blessings of three beautiful children.
