The Houston Chapter of the Environmental Water Resources Institute (EWRI) invites you to a tour of the Harris County’s Emergency Operations Center (EOC).  The EOC is a state-of-the-art facility designed to help local governments and emergency responders serve and protect residents during disasters and emergencies.  During an activation, the EOC allows the county to coordinate with regional, state, and national operations centers through a host of systems and back-up systems, including the Internet, video-teleconferencing, satellite phones, 800 MHZ radio, short- wave/amateur radio, and local, state, and national warning/notification systems . Misty Gunn, the EOC Manager, will provide an overview of EOC operations (including all of the upgrades during the 2014 expansion). Other tour topics will include preparedness tips, primarily for floods and hurricanes.

For more information, read the news release from the EOC opening.
