2017 Houston Branch Award of Honor

  

The Houston Branch would like to recognize Chris Cotter, PE as the recipient of the 2017 ASCE Houston Branch Award of Honor.  Chris was presented the award during the 2018 February Branch meeting.  The Award of Honor is the highest recognition that the Houston Branch can present to one of its members and Chris is well deserving of this award.  Congratulations Chris and thank you for the lasting positive impact you have had on the Houston Branch!

Chris Cotter, PE is Vice President, Public Infrastructure: Transportation, Houston with LJA Engineering, Inc. Over the past 25 years, Chris has played a key role in the development of major, high profile transportation projects throughout the Houston area. He is known for his project and program management expertise and contributions to major projects for TxDOT, the Grand Parkway Association, the Harris County Toll Road Authority, and the Fort Bend Toll Road Authority. Chris is experienced in all phases of the multi-faceted and complex transportation project development process, including managing large and diverse project teams. Mentoring and developing young engineers on these project teams is a key focus for Chris.

In the community, Chris has served on the ASCE Houston Branch Board of Directors from 1997 through 2003, and he served as the ASCE Houston Branch President in 2002. During this time, he worked with the ASCE Texas Section to develop the ASCE State of Texas Infrastructure Report Card. After this, he continued his positive impact to ASCE by mentoring and encouraging young engineers who would eventually become active leaders in the organization, many of whom have served on the Branch Board of Directors.  He also served on the ASCE Branch SAGE Committee from 2013-2015. Chris is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the North Houston Association, and participates in development of their Strategic Mobility Plan. Chris and his family have called Spring (initially) and Kingwood (currently) home since 1989, where they participate in many community and Humble ISD activities.
